Join Josh Chamberlain, Founder and President of Go Green OC, Ocean City’s award-winning nonprofit dedicated to sustainability, environmental education, and community-driven solutions. Under his leadership, Go Green OC has diverted nearly 1.3 million pounds of food waste from landfills through the Eastern Shore’s largest composting operation partnering with local businesses, festivals, and organizations to move our region toward a zero-waste future.
We are invited to a behind-the-scenes peek at his “homeland,” where the compost gold mine thrives. During this immersive experience, you’ll see firsthand how food scraps transform from rags to riches in the compost world, that support healthier soils and thriving gardens. Josh will walk us step-by-step through the process of turning food waste into nutrient-rich soil and you may never look at your kitchen scraps the same way again.
As a thank-you for attending, everyone will receive a bucket of compost to take home for their gardens. And those gardens will be extra happy when you pair that compost with native plants from ACT’s upcoming Native Plant Sale 🌱

SIP OF SCIENCE SERIES:
'Through Time'
The Evolving Relationship Between Language,
Land & Shoreline
An archaeological hands-on lecture that uncovers the hidden paths guided by Archeologist, Aaron Levinthal, Maryland Park Service. This journey uncovers how generations before us understood and described the world around them. The history of land use over 15,000 years, with stories woven throughout the Shore and written into the landscape.
As coastlines moved, so did communities. As environments changed, so did the language used to define them. Not just in what we see, but in what has shifted, settled, and sometimes disappeared. From shorelines to changing waters and landscapes, participants will explore how people have shaped the environment pre-contact and historic communities, reminding us that the relationship between people and place has always been evolving. Let’s explore what our mark is in history.
Together, these experiences form something larger than a series.
They create a pathway, and one that connects land, water, and life. One that invites us not just to learn, but to participate. To observe, to question, and ultimately, to care more deeply. Because when we begin to see how everything flows together, we begin to understand.
And that’s where real stewardship begins!
