About the event
Since 2021, waterbirds have the opportunity to nest on a manmade raft in the Coastal Bays. Maryland Coastal Bays Program, Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Audubon Mid-Atlantic, invented this project to preserve three of Maryland’s state listed endangered colonial nesting waterbirds – the Common Tern, Royal Tern, and Black Skimmer. At the beginning of the project, Coast Kids members painted some wooden chick shelters to provide shade and protect chicks from the elements and predators. Please join to learn about this fascinating conservation project and paint more
shelters!
